Plans for a four-screen drive-in style cinema in the UAE have been unveiled by Fujairah Media Group.
The outdoor complex – branded as Arabian Cinemas – will feature four 3D capable digital cinema theatre spaces with room for a total of 800 cars at any one time.
“Watching movies is undoubtedly one of the main forms of entertainment for UAE residents, a fact that is underlined by the packed houses that most theatres enjoy each weekend,” said Talaat Captan, CEO, Arabian Cinemas.
“We believe there is an untapped market for people looking for a totally different ambience while watching their favourite movies.”
The complex will be able to handle 7200 customers per night. The launch date is October 10 this year (10/10/10).
Audio for the movies will be delivered through a dedicated FM frequency for each screen that customers can then tune into through their car radio.
In keeping with the Arabian theme, shisha will be served directly to the side of vehicles.
“The Arabian-themed drive-in cinema is in line with our long-term commitment to complement Fujairah’s natural beauty and growing tourist appeal with innovative, value-added offerings,” said Mekki Abdulla, CEO, Fujairah Media Group.
