MBC has secured the exclusive rights to Warner Bros series content to 2011.
MBC network has penned a deal with Warner Brothers Studios which has granted the broadcaster exclusive rights to content produced by the company until 2011.
While the company has refused to disclose the exact value of the broadcasting rights for the Middle East, MBC’s group TV director, Tim Riordan, revealed that it was the biggest agreement signed between the parties to date.
“This is our biggest deal with Warner Bros, which is one of the most successful studios in the world,” he said.
“MBC realises the importance of airing show series in this region concurrently with the U.S. in order to meet the growing demands of the Arab audience.”
Three television series acquired through the deal will be aired on MBC Action as early as this month, as part of the channel’s ‘Big Action April’ campaign.
Sci fi action series Terminator:The Sarah Connor Chronicles, The Mentalist and Fringe will be among the first Warner Brothers productions to be aired by the network.
While these three titles will be the first to go to air, MBC network has secured rights to all content produced by the company until 2011, which is expected to result in further Warner Brothers broadcasts across the network’s collection of channels.
